They control, but not own. Things you own can be taken away. Things you control are entirely different.
I don't own my property, my boats, cars, nothing. Various corporations and other bullshit own them. I just use them whenever I want. I don't give myself permission and I technically am trespassing on their property, but there won't be any complaints. So if I'm sued, there's nothing to take. Sure, maybe a checking account with a few thousand, but brokerage accounts? Stocks? Not held by me, I don't own anything.
