Good God KK, put on your big boy pants. Do you really think the boys in JP will give Faulkner the boot? Maybe you have visions of a three guitar band (AKA Iron Maiden)? Not gonna happen. You sound like a little girl complaining that she can't participate in a tea party. Someone take your Barbie? 0 allen_pagent 10 · Oct 18, 2021 04:36 PM · report · ↑reply

But it seemed that after '85, Glenn took more and more control. I saw that 2005 dvd of the British Steel 25th anniversary. Towards the end, you have Glenn and KK together showing the riffs. Glenn completely controls the commentary with KK awkwardly silent alongside. I thought this very strange at the time. As if Glenn said to KK : "Listen Ken, let me do all the talking and you just back me up with the rhythm parts, ok" ? Actually, pretty sure there was no "ok" at the end, lol. 1 Reply @Ian-bq7gp 4 months ago He was a very talented player Reply @johnhagan582 3 months ago I agree completely .when they played live Rob's interactions with Glenn (throughout the set) were a real vocal point of their stage show and presence .whether its Rob throwing his arm around Glenn sticking the microphone in his mouth to sing background vocals and choruses in harmony together .or the way he would always point his finger or wave his arm backwards as to introduce Glen to the crowd while he was doing his solos .but yet didn't ever show even the least bit of acknowledgement towards Kk at all while on stage.which I never really thought much about it the 3 times I saw Judus Priest live in (81 and 82) .but now thinking back it was as Kk was getting shunned by his band mates .and it was like Kk kinda knew and accepted it .I mean the first time or two they would come together side by side and rock their guitars from back and forth in unison like they so often did but other than that it was like kk wasn't even there is their eyes .but for me Kks blazing lead breaks and masterful use of the tremolo was wat (at least for me) was the MAIN attraction in this band .he had a much more polarizing stage presence than Glenn or the rest of them . I'm guessing Rob and Glenn were alot closer and probably had a much better relationship with each other .which is OK but not to the point to where conspired against Kk and that was obviously the case when they parted ways .I mean the story go's that sometime between 2010 and 2015 (I think) Kk had made his mind up about retiring from touring which he did but not long after he had a change of heart and wanted back in and they flat out refused to allow him back in the fold .there was a huge disconnect between Rob and Glenn towards Kk .then Glenn had his medical issues which was leading him to have to guit touring .and Rob still wouldn't allow Ken back instead opting to bring in another player to replace Glenn .which resulted in Kk forming Kks Priest .which by the way is as on the same level as Priest itself .but I'm not a fan of Kks Priest vocalist .I mean he might well be adored In the UK as a singer but IMO just does not fit in vocally as Rob Halford's replacement .in all honesty I don't see any other vocalist on planet earth stepping in and filling those shoes . Reply @bigman55434 1 month ago I always felt like Glenn was the lead, and Ken was the rhythm guitarist. Reality was they were both leads. Loved them both. I’m really sad that Glenn has Parkinson’s. I recently stumbled across this video
KK's Priest live | Rock Hard Festival 2024 | Rockpalast (youtube.com)
Holy **** KK (and Ripper) are on fire! His solo's on Beyond the Realms and Victim of Changers are just as good if not better than ever, and that might be one of the best performances of Victim of Changes ever.
I will admit while i've been a huge KK and Priest fan for almost 40 years, the 2 albums KK has put out since leaving have been "meh" to put it nicely, and i've seen Priest with the "B team" (what I call their current touring lineup) and it just wasn't the same. So why not get back together? Rob currently sounds great, KK currently plays great, this needs to happen. This whole situation is so stupid, getting together would be more money for everyone (except Andy and the rest of KK's band of course). I feel like Jayne Andrews and Glenn are the reason this isn't happening and neither are even (really) in the current band (ok Jayne is the manager but who cares about her? She is doing a bad job). KK has been quite the dick for the past several years. He's burned the bridge IMO. Letting a bitter man who's insulted everyone back in the band so some fans can get a nostalgic warm and fuzzy isn't a great idea. Plus, priests' current lineup is kicking ass. Why mess with that? He gets his thing, priest gets there's Eye-on-Springfield • 4 days ago

before KK's Priest thing he always welcomed the idea of rejoined JP, but after Glenn retires from the stage instead calling KK back they hire Andy Sneap instead to fill Glenn position. its both parties that burn the bridge lyndon85 • 4 days ago
Priest management don't want it, it won't happen. And given the age of everyone now, it never will.
Back when Halford was the one on the outside, trashing Priest's management and being called bitter by Priest "fans", what got the wheels moving was the money people. Metal was regaining popularity, offers were being made and some shady shit happened behind the scenes to push the parties back together.
But singer's are more in the public eye than musicians so any commercial bump the band got by KK rejoining would not be as strong IMO.
Course, back then Halford wanted the band to have different management and as a compromise they created a company to manage band assets (not that it gave KK any protection).
I don't think there's any compromise that will make KK and Priest management work together.
If you got the guys in a room together without journalists, management or any other interfereing wankers I'm sure they'd get on well enough, but that hasn't happened. taking_bullet • 3 days ago

I like Kk’s Priest, and am actually seeing them live next week! I think their first album is great and the first half of the second album is even better. Then it just kind of fizzles for me.
But yeah seeing him return to Judas Priest would be cool. Richie can do anything, so him taking the Glenn spot on stage would be fine by me. As much as I love Judas Priest and their last few albums, it still doesn’t feel fully legitimate to me without KK present. I’m glad I caught them on the British Steel 30th Anniversary tour, right before he left, as my first Priest show. They still rock but the magic isn’t quite the same. u/carnage819 avatar carnage819 • 4 days ago
I think his new band is fantastic. !! I saw them live twice ChrisV82 • 4 days ago
I would like them to bury the hatchet and get along OK because they spent so many decades together. You hate to see "friendships" remain ruined as these folks enter their twilight years.
As far as music goes, I don't care. Rob, Ian and KK are all a bunch of geezers. Their best days are long past. Glenn is sadly suffering through illness. If they get together, they aren't going to sound as good as the Angel of Retribution days, let alone the glory days. I love these guys, and it's not fair to expect them to be whatever is in our heads that we think they should be.
tl;dr I want them to iron their differences out for their own sake, not for the fans. u/rawg67 avatar rawg67 • 4 days ago

I'm assuming the logical thing would be to let Sneap go, not Faulkner.
But it would be a terrible idea. His playing was never an issue, it's the way he's been talking about the rest of the band for years. He left on his own accord, has acted like a bitter, resentful former lover, and even started his own band where everything is supposed to remind people of his former band.
He's got his own thing going, and seems happy enough with it. It also satisfies those wanting to hear Ripper sing Priest-like material with one of the original members.
Why mess with two winning formulas? u/megadave1988 avatar megadave1988 • 3 days ago
Because neither is a winning formula. KKs albums suck and Priests live performances are not nearly as good without KK (and yes I have seen them live in person). u/67SuperReverb avatar 67SuperReverb • 3 days ago • Edited 3 days ago
That’s objectively false.
What you think of their live shows is crazy to me but that’s an opinion you’re entitled to… but they are still a hugely popular live band that puts butts in seats every night and have had two consecutive critically acclaimed huge selling studio albums.
Shield debuted #2 in the UK. A 50 year old metal band debuted at #2. They had previously never had an album debut that high. Ever. And prior to that, y’know what their highest charting album was? Firepower.
You don’t have to like them, but it is a winning formula. The numbers don’t lie. u/67SuperReverb avatar 67SuperReverb • 3 days ago • Edited 3 days ago
Why not get back together?
The bridges have long been burned
Regardless of whether you like them, the last two Judas Priest albums are super popular and make up a big part of their identity now. The last two KK's Priest albums have been... odd homages to old Priest with a few catchy hooks now and again.
Andy and Richie have carefully divided up every part in every song, including songs Priest hadn't played in years. Swapping in KK would be a ton of work.
KK has played 69 shows since 2019 (including the rock and roll hall of fame). Most of the shows he has played have been in the UK or USA. Priest have played 211 shows Worldwide in that frame.
If they ever got to this point, it would be cool to see KK sit in for a song now and again, but replacing Andy? Nah. No way. As it stands now, we have Judas Priest which is led by the minds of Rob Halford, Andy Sneap, and Richie Faulkner. They're an evolved form of the band. KK's Priest also has their own offerings. There is no need to combine them. The whole would not be greater than the sum of its parts, especially given Andy would be the one forced to walk.

He quit. Per_Mikkelsen • 3 days ago
This is such an imbecilic take. It's positively mind-boggling that there are grown adults out there who mistakenly believe that there are always simple answers to complex problems.
Ken left of his own accord, and it wasn't what you might call an amicable split. On his way out the door he took the remaining members to task over what he perceived to be their shortcomings as musicians, as performers, and as professionals. And he didn't hold back.
He left the other guys in the lurch. They plodded on, found another guitarist who has proven himself to be a phenomenal player and a more than adequate replacement. Ritchie has been with the band for 13 years, recorded three studio albums with them, and has poured his heart and soul into everything he does.
Ken hasn't shut his mouth for more than five minutes since he quit about how he was the one who was mistreated and how Rob and Glenn are a couple of arseholes. Frankly I'm surprised that the rest of the band hasn't just made the collective decision to completely ignore Ken and pretend like he doesn't even exist seeing as his embarrassingly immature antics are clearly designed to try and keep him relevant when he is a spent force in the metal world.
Moreover, even if it wasn't an issue of personalities clashing and bad blood there would still be the logistical issue - Ritchie was hired to replace Ken. He plays Ken's parts on the old stuff. Glenn can no longer play live and it's only a matter of time before he can no longer record (if we haven't reached that point already.) He will almost certainly be announcing his retirement officially very soon. But the band already has a stand in for Glenn...
So you see the issue here. Ritchie plays Ken's parts and then he plays his own stuff on the more recent recordings. Glenn's replacement (Andy Sneap) plays Glenn's stuff... So how might Ken fit into that? Is the band supposed to fire Andy, rehire Ken, have Ken play his parts and have Ritchie switch over to playing Glenn's stuff? What about the more recent material? Should Ritchie play his own stuff from the 2011-present era while Ken plays Glenn's parts? Odds are Ken would insist on his rejoining the band to be contingent on the reunion being limited to playing only material from the albums on which he originally played.
Look, this kind of nonsense is like that poor disillusioned kid who still holds out hope that his parents are somehow going to get back together after divorcing and both parties going on to get remarried to somebody else. It's a silly pipe dream. Ken will never, ever be rejoining the band, and that is 100% on Ken himself. He alone made the decision to quit, he alone made the decision to turn the knife over and over and over again since.
Judas Priest will call it a day, throw in the towel, and hang up their hats long before they would ever consider reconciling with Ken. Never gonna happen. u/spoopythrowaway666 avatar spoopythrowaway666 • 2 days ago
This is such an imbecilic take
Respectfully, it's pointless getting personal with people who are well-meaning and who likely aren't familiar with the issues and dynamics that led to this situation happening in the first place.
Ken left of his own accord
I'll repeat my reply from earlier in the thread:
"This keeps getting passed on as canon even though it's only half the story.
He told the band that he'd changed his mind about leaving but the day after he tried to withdraw his resignation, Priest's management issued a press release saying that he'd quit. He didn't leave, he was effectively fired."
He left the other guys in the lurch
He gave them six months' notice and offered to coach his replacement. Not exactly 'leaving them in the lurch', then.
Ritchie has been with the band for 13 years... and has poured his heart and soul into everything he does.
At least we can agree on this 👍 Both Richie and Andy are doing a phenomenal job for a band that they both clearly love and long may they continue.
Ken hasn't shut his mouth for more than five minutes
He kept very quiet until the publication of his book (in 2018). And his anger has been targeted at the management regime in Priest and not (necessarily) at his former bandmates.
I'm surprised that the rest of the band hasn't just made the collective decision to completely ignore Ken
Save for the odd 'cease and desist' notice for the heinous crime of offering to rejoin the band for the 50th anniversary tour, they pretty much have.
he is a spent force in the metal world
Such a spent force that thousands of fans are currently flocking to hear him play every week on a hugely successful American tour ;)
So you see the issue here
Not really, if I'm honest. K.K. and Richie are both professional musicians who - by all accounts - get on very well and who have undeniable onstage chemistry (see the Hall of Fame performance for evidence). K.K. is more then capable of playing the newer JP material and I'm sure they'd manage to sort it out between them ;)
Ken would insist on his rejoining the band to be contingent on the reunion being limited to playing only material from the albums on which he originally played
There's no way you could know this. You're reaching here and you know it.
Look, this kind of nonsense is like that poor disillusioned kid who still holds out hope that his parents are somehow going to get back together
Guilty as charged although I just want them to repair their friendships (without any interference from third parties with their own agendas) before it's too late. They've been through so much and it's both sad and disappointing that it's come to the state that it has.
I don't have a horse in this race and I'm just happy that K.K. is playing again, regardless of which Priest he happens to be with. He doesn't deserve the crap that gets thrown at him so can we please just accept that there are two (fantastic) Priests now and support one or both without trashing the other? Until 2018, upon the release of his autobiography, the name Kenneth Downing wasn't in the news at all. Other than listening to old Judas Priest albums, I completely forgot about him. He left of his own free will
This keeps getting passed on as canon even though it's only half the story.
He told the band that he'd changed his mind about leaving but the day after he tried to withdraw his resignation, Priest's management issued a press release saying that he'd quit. He didn't leave, he was effectively fired.
There were the audience’s favourites still to follow and challenge our necks, with Repined’s absence being felt on this tour. Another thrilling piece I seem to be missing, is Nocturnal Flare; and it would just be brilliant if SATYRICON revived The Scorn Torrent in the future.
The overall feel was indeed that of jamming. Of unassuming unpretense. Of being one with the fan. Of being a fan. I didn’t sense a distance between Satyr’s banging head and mine, between the band’s timing and the audience’s.
And this is what leaves blissful expressions on people’s faces. Metal legends or otherwise. The Dawn Of A New Age tour has, by all accounts, been nothing short of a declaration of mutual love.

We just a couple of good friends in the last couple of days — [from] METAL CHURCH and ZZ TOP. And I'm 70 years old this year. I don't want this beloved music to be a page in the history book in fifty years' time; I want it to continue. Hence the 'Sermons Of The Sinner'," he said, referencing the first KK'S PRIEST LP. "Maybe they can help us to keep going and rise again in numbers and in strength to keep creating this music, not just listen to the people that enjoy being critical of something, just 'cause it's been around for 40 or 50 years and it's time to move on. Nuh-uh. We don't want that, because when you look at all of the great classical musicians from the 16th and 17th and 18th centuries, we want that now. There's lots of people that want it and want more of it and cherish it. And at some point, people let that go and neglected it. Hopefully that never happens to our music."

Diana Chavdarova Good snapshot of your fanbase. Downing: "Part of the reason I left is that there were no women anymore." Tipton: "The kids chant my name and it makes me feel so good. I'll find it very hard once it's over, but for now I'm dealing with it and enjoying it, and the kids are enjoying it. We have the best fans. They are wild animals and I love them for their loyalty."
Diana Chavdarova The instances of psychological projection are staggering. Who instructed you fanboys to constantly hear "whining" in your heads? Certainly prevents you from recognising the simple fact that Tipton does have significantly more leads than Downing. Also that he features on the poster of a tour he won't take part in, but he charges you hundreds of dollars.
Diana Chavdarova K.K.Downing's Metal K.K. Downing's Steel Mill Please advise KK Downing that it's absolutely vital that Tim Owens, who's been known as a Trump sympathiser, denounce the villain.
Diana Chavdarova Richard Wolff They're trying to convince us that a teenager is a consenting adult to a 60 y.o. Not only that - it changes whether she's an "equal partner" or "a fan" - in the latter case she'd be groomed (manipulated given the unequal power dynamic).

Stórfjeppari Kev J. Green Diana Chavdarova You've just said that anyone that does anything with a rockstar must have been manipulated due to the "unequal power dynamic". That's entirely untrue though isn't it? You can't also say that about this encounter. There are thousands of cases where young fans run after band members who may not even know anything about them until they've been contacted first. Were they manipulated in those cases too then? Plus she was 19 it's not like she was underage or it was illegal. People keep throwing around 'teenager' like she was 13 or something. Big difference there.

Wayward Son Diana Chavdarova you seem to be pushing a strong narrative that no one agrees with. Not EVERY encounter is grooming. Not EVERY encounter is an abuse of power. 19 is NOT a tender age. SOME people fap. SOME people do it together. Even has the word "mutua… See more

Diana Chavdarova Wayward Son Of course they don't agree - most are fanboys, equally manipulated (self-gaslit) by their idols. The metal scene is arguably a cultist environment. Victims of grooming are confused due to the gaslighting; in addition, they may be coerced to defend the groomer - something which should be investigated. Any "celebrity" is free to indulge as long as they approach the other person as an equal, rather than setting a toxic environment from the get-go. If he sees her as a fanatic and pursues, he's clearly taking advantage.

Diana Chavdarova Joey Lummox If she's a "fanatic" and he's a "celebrity", that's already abuse of trust, which coupled with her tender age constitutes grooming.

Diana Chavdarova How does she shift from an "equal sexual partner" throughout the article, to "a fan" (someone in an unequal power dynamic, whether underage or not)? "Ellefson stated the fan has not extorted him in any way, so he believes she is not the originator of the social media posts making the allegations." It should be investigated whether this "star" wasn't extorting her to make the supposedly exonerating Instagram post.
