Good God KK, put on your big boy pants. Do you really think the boys in JP will give Faulkner the boot? Maybe you have visions of a three guitar band (AKA Iron Maiden)? Not gonna happen. You sound like a little girl complaining that she can't participate in a tea party. Someone take your Barbie?

While reading these comments on the idea of the modern Judas Priest versus the original Judas Priest, two very decided schools of thought develop for consideration.
I have read Heavy Duty; Days and Nights in Judas Priest, as well as Confess. I think that the answers to our questions are to be found in those books.
It all boils down to two men, and two separate ideologies for the direction of the band.
Some people enjoy the original direction of the band, while others think that the new direction is the best possible continuation.
One side believes, as I just read in an extensive commentary, that KK Downing was originally an integral part of the band.
This writer also seems to believe that KK Downing committed the ultimate sin when he left the band.
He does not extend that same 'ultimate sin' transgression to the earlier leaving of Rob Halford.
Apparently Mr. Halford gets a free pass to return to the band, where K K Downing does not.
I have also noticed that the same people who revere Rob Halford as the sinless metal god also promote Glenn Tipton as being far superior to KK Downing.
These two characteristics seem to go hand in hand.
Indeed, most of the new fans and not a few of the old ones hold to this decided philosophy.
Rob Halford walks on water, and Glenn Tipton is the greatest thing since sliced bread.
The third characteristic of this group may be summed up within this direct quote: "I love this band and Judas Priest is and always will be the ultimate metal band of all time. Long live Priest!!!"
That is one particular line of thought.
There is another line of thought; and this group is usually the older people; the founding fans, if you will.
Or, even if you won't.
As a member of that other group, as one of the founding fans, I recognize the fact that we are responsible for the successful existence of Judas Priest. We are the sine qua non; the "without which, not" of that band, and indeed, of all of actual heavy metal as an art form.
This thing has indeed been our fault.
We, the original faithful, have ever been threatened by much fake metal; by punk, speed, thrash, glam, hair, sludge, grunge, metalcore, and every living thing that creepeth about on all fours.
And now we are threatened by this new line up and this new direction of the band.
We would most likely be satisfied with dueling KK's, seeing as how Richie appears to be more KK than Richie, himself.
But the second group does not concur. And I wondered why this was.
It all goes back to those two books.
In a nutshell, Rob Halford admits to being the original diva; the original one to leave the band.
He further seems to 'confess' that it was most likely him who caused KK to leave the band.
At the end of that long tour, just before everybody decided to 'Epitaph' and go their separate ways, Rob intimates he thought he messed with everybody by saying that he was leaving again.
Everybody was tired, overworked, and needed a long break.
And Halford thought what better time to stir up some shit!
(Hey, it's his book!)
And by the time this rumor got around to KK, KK just got pissed off and left.
That part of his book has bothered since I first read it.
Apparently KK let Rob Halford push his buttons.
Apparently Rob now has the band that he's always wanted.
This begins to make sense; in the early 90's, Rob obviously believed that he was so important that there could be no Judas Priest without him.
Singers tend to have that effect; Jim Morrison, Elvis, Bob Seger, Vince Neil, Sebastian Bach, but especially Rob Halford.
I think a lot of people felt that way.
I felt that way, at the time.
But I held it against Rob that he did this thing; and I think he did it to attempt to have what he has now; complete autonomy away from the man who created the most popular form of Judas Priest ever to be created; KK Downing.
What I'm finding out now is that Rob Halford was only half of that final equation; without KK, Glenn Tipton stays with the Flying Hat band, and Rob Halford continues to pretend to be part of a failed band called Lord Lucifer, while singing Doris Day songs in the shower. Or, whatever.
And Ian? He does what he always did; strum four strings and stare at his feet.
Because without KK, the band has indeed gone in a different direction.
Three albums, now.
Of those three albums, I only really like two songs; Never The Heroes, and Trial By Fire.
Both of those seem to be done in the Old Style.
There are about seven songs on Invincible Shield which are nice, but they're not Judas Priest songs; they are Richie's Priest songs.
It's rather like Chinese Democracy; I like about five songs, but that is an Axl Rose solo project, not a Guns N Roses album; we waited thirteen years for nothing.
Judas Priest is gone because Glenn is gone, and KK is gone. Long Live Richie's Priest.
Not my Judas Priest; Richie's.
My Priest is the one with all of the Hall of Fame albums; the one envisioned and developed by KK Downing.

George Roland WillsAuthor
Julie Huffaker Perhaps you are familiar with the politics of the United States of today. 150 years ago, the exact same politics existed which led to the start of the American Civil War.
It is the same exact political thing which happened during Braveheart; it's an Anglo-Saxon-Celtic difficulty. Now let me translate that for you into Heavy Metal.
There are two white races on the earth. Not one; two.
If you listen to the song Monsters of Rock, you will find that this story is depicted within that particular epic ballad. What you may not know about it, and indeed what the three actual authors of that song may not fully realize is this; it is a song of Celtic and Country English rebellion against the received pronunciation Anglo-Saxon ruling class. Here is an excerpt:
"The seed became the embryo, for all on earth to see - Like stealth the word spread mouth to mouth, all corners of the land. And soon the thing began to grow, and get right out of
hand..."
Here is your conspiracy; your William Wallace; your V for Vendetta; your religious wars between Catholics and Protestants... it's all the same.
The Anglo-Scottish (Celt) War of 1650 to 1652 is sometimes referred to as the Third English Civil War.
The classical lineup of Judas Priest are known as the Country English, from the Black Country; basically the same economic condition as the Celts; such as the Welsh (my people) who later became, with the Irish and the Scots, the American Confederate South.
Judas Priest has been ever at odds with the Londinium Anglo-Saxons of Old England. That is why Rob Halford included the cryptic meeting with Queen Elizabeth in his book CONFESS; just about everybody missed that reference.
She asked him why does Heavy Metal have to be so loud, and he said so that they may "bang their heads, majesty."
Headbanging is a source of frustration; the old banging your head against the wall, so to speak. Only it is done to music, and it turns out to be enjoyable... instead of giving you a headache, as banging your head against a wall will produce.
But what is this frustration???
In the late 1960s, the American Left and their damned hippies "were leaving on a jet plane" so they could "share the land" ...
"Maybe I'll be there to share the land (Share the land) that they'll be givin' away when we all live together, we're talkin' 'bout together, now..."
Nice song; smacks completely of Canadian communism. And that's the problem...
Did you ever wonder why Heavy Metal was ever invented??? Why there ever was a need for it? Why I give Rob Halford and Judas Priest through KK Downing the credit for having done that? It was for the lower middle-class white males, originally.
We have always been third class citizens, and no one knows that more than the black country Birmingham heavy metal bands clear back to Led Zeppelin. There is another race of white people who are somehow our betters... And it took us years to figure that out.
But Heavy Metal was the form of music that took us away from that Hippy Dippy bullshit music from the Liberal hippie generation... It spoke directly to us.
So now you want to know why it pisses me off when they become like AC/DC, and Twisted Sister, and all of the other sellouts... Well they start putting out corporate metal, which is what it is...
Do you know why Rob Halford never said anything about being gay before 1991? Because he was talking directly to us at the time; the hated Celts and the country English. Basically his own people. And he cared about what we thought because he was passing himself off as one of us; as one of that Judas Priest band. Passing for Heterosexual. He posed with hot women, in compromising positions; he was selling heterosexuality.
Heavy metal is a heterosexual form of music; one could almost say misogynist; it is political incorrection, and insurrection... by its very nature.
But, suddenly, he leaves the band; he is no longer a member of Judas Priest; the heterosexual, late seventies ROAD WARRIOR version. He is no longer selling "heterosexuality on the half shell." So, at the insistence of KK, and for the good of the entire band, he comes back into the band, having already outed himself.
Turns out he left for no reason whatsoever; we had known for years he was gay, we just never held it against him. And we still don't. He wasn't exactly Lady Gaga, and making it damned obvious with every other word, so what did we care what he did off duty?
We are libertarians; knock yourself out.
And if he had been hetero, he would've known HOW we knew that he was gay; heterosexuals have gay-dar.
We develop it naturally during adolescence to protect ourselves from serial killers; it doesn't always work, but metal heads are unusually hard to fool.
We suspect everybody of everything; it's part of our politics, and why we listen to that hard shit to begin with...
But it belongs to us, and once money got involved, we knew it was going to be watered-down; and we tried to live through that.
This must've been why KK left; he must've been the original heavy metal heterosexual messenger; maybe he got tired of seeing Rob Halford come out on stage looking like a cross between Slash and Liberace... I liked it better when he dressed like my grandfather going out to the barn... Denim and heavy engineers boots.
Maybe there's more to this than meets the eye...
The trouble with our people is that we are the Silent South; except for me, I never shut up.
But all of these black country types... suffering along in their "quiet desperation" as Pink Floyd has so eloquently noted... That's the American South... They would rather not talk about it.
But I'm talking about it.
We try to do it through critiquing the songs, but it's really the message that is gone; the one thing that we had; the one thing that we could use to legally fight off the Anglo-Saxon overlords... was heavy metal...
And since the PMRC, these Anglo - Saxon Yankee liberals have ever tried to silence the voice of metal; to deny that the Celts even exist; a group of white people who wish to live tribally; just like every other group of racially diverse people on the planet...
On the album NOSTRADAMUS, there is a song called ALONE.
It is an A-list song; one of the last A-list songs Judas Priest ever created.
It is an A-list song because it is a politically incorrect subversive tune; one that backs our original position...
And NOW you know what an A-list song is.... it has to say something. Something worthwhile.
ALONE literally quotes Confederate President Jefferson Davis; "we don't want to belong; we said all along; we just want to be - left alone..."
But now I have you telling me that you think that I am "dissing" Judas Priest because I don't like the direction they have taken.
See, now, THAT right there is Anglo-Saxon thinking; telling people that their opinions are invalid because they do not align with your own.
But the fight is ever there; the modern UK Celts fight Old England, while we latter-day New World Celts fight the Anglo-Saxon - Puritan - Yankee - New England Liberals of today. And for the exact same reasons; Anglo-Saxons and Celts.
But Old England is New England; and we are just as much the hated Celts and the Country English of the American South, as are the Welsh jokes that they tell in London to this day.
I am actually compiling all of this for a book I am writing (I may have just written it!) and this also pisses off the Saxon overlords, both here and over there!! It is ever the war of Totalitarian Collectivism versus the Individual.
But Heavy Metal is ours, the Old Ones; those who originally put Heavy Metal on the map - even if Heavy Metal actually ended with the British Steel 3Oth Anniversary in the Seminole Arena...
So. Now you know!

Ritchie Colón so then, it amazes me how the concept of a 'band' eludes you completely... It's kind of like a marriage, from what I can tell. You don't air your dirty shit in public, you back each other up in their various weaknesses, and You don't keep somebody out of the band when they come back hat-in-hand... Just because you think you've got that moral high ground. Because your music sucks thereafter, even though you might not have the wherewithal to recognize it....

Ritchie Colón
George Roland Wills, I understand those things but sometimes things cannot be helped. KK was wrong in saying the things he said but JP has proven they don't need him. You may not like what material they have put out since KK left, but a lot of fans do and have purchased their music and continue to go to their concerts. In the end, KK isn't needed because the true talent of the band are still there, Glenn and Rob. Hearing what KK has come up with in his "band" tells me that he most likely contributed little to the writing.

George I’m not sure what it is we’re debating or what it is you’re contesting here George.
When you say absolutely I’m in full agreement with you, reading your comment it’s not JP without both of them sure it isn’t and it’s not JP with Richie and Andy up there without Glenn but the band is at the tail end of its career KK isn’t coming back and fans still wanna see Priest out there doing the original Glenna and KK material.
But their are some irrefutable facts, the band would not be as big without Glenn, as for KK not being half the guitarist Glenn is I’m not sure I agree whatsoever with that they both brought their own unique dimensions to the band tracks like Realms and Victim of theirs no way they’re as good as they are without both of them on bringing their guitars to the fore the way they do at the moments they do.
I don’t understand all this bickering and squabbling over this guy is better than this guy each one of them is better than the other in regards to aspects of their playing hence why it worked so god damned well and why it’s loved as much as it is.

18But now hath God set the members every one of them in the body, as it hath pleased him. 19And if they were all one member, where were the body? 20But now are they many members, yet but one body. 21And the eye cannot say unto the hand, I have no need of thee: nor again the head to the feet, I have no need of you. 22Nay, much more those members of the body, which seem to be more feeble, are necessary: 23And those members of the body, which we think to be less honourable, upon these we bestow more abundant honour; and our uncomely parts have more abundant comeliness. 24For our comely parts have no need: but God hath tempered the body together, having given more abundant honour to that part which lacked:

Let’s look a little deeper at the solos on victim of changes, first one is KK then Glenn finishes it, theirs no way either one of them can come up with those solos themselves and the track is nowhere near ever what it is without those solos exactly as they are and were at those exact points, the feel they bring at those moments in time or that song is what sets it aside with the like of Realms of Death as something extraordinary and unique.

Ritchie Colón Ritchie Priest isn't even organic. It's literally computerized like Turbo was synthetic. Scott Travis is a yes man and doesn't really go past the drum machine anymore. Sean Elg is a beast but Ripper Owen's ego is dragging KKsPriest down despite being the most qualified as the songs are written for him. Halford is a screaming little girl with Peter Brady moments without the teleprompter but is spot on if he doesn't stray from it. Ritchie nearly has to play all the solos. Sneap is a hack on stage and makes Judas Priest sound like a soundtrack in the studio for Halfords born again bozos that they look to attract. The engineer for KK does a much better job in the studio than whoever Andy is using with a laptop.

John Reno, exactly. The bands name and the old song references reek of childishness and temper tantrums. KK is very petty and immature.

Ritchie Colón lol Jayne is a gold-digger and takes full advantage of the people she can cheat. It really comes down to women managing bands into the ground . It's literally the reason why there are two of every band nowadays.
