The C+= Thing

Name: Anonymous 2013-12-15 5:05

So, in case you haven't heard about it, /g/ made a Github repo describing C+=, a language satirizing feminism, and Github got antsy and pulled it down (HN, predictably, has forbidden any discussion of the matter, according to Slashdot). The repo has been since put up at https://bitbucket.org/FeministSoftwareFoundation/c-plus-equality if you want to see what it's about.

Still /lounge/ material now, since all that's there is a set of example programs and some (contradictory) specifications. It also seems to be based on Sepples.

It's also good to see that there are some folks on /g/ who can make a decent joke when they put their minds to it.

Name: Anonymous 2013-12-15 5:17

Should there be any exceptions from running the program, C+= will throw a Trigger Warning.
That's it, I lost it. This is gold. If what you are saying is true, Github and HN are gigantic faggots and should get fucked with rusty dildi.

There's something that's been bothering me about trigger warnings since the zeroth day I read about them. Why don't the special snowflakes (along with the few legitimate PTSD sufferers) just use a browser extension to automatically detect 'triggering material' and blank it out or warn the user? I mean if you're epileptic it's your responsibility to block animated pictures in your browser, not mine to not include a large warning banner on every page of my website (which you might find useful but 99% of people would find quite annoying).

Name: Anonymous 2013-12-15 10:02

Can't believe Github took it down.

http://feministsoftwarefoundation.org/ is pretty good as well for a cover page to the whole thing. It made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside to see all that completely necessary javascript. Even better, the subtle, almost-black part of the scrolling thing is a screenshot from Sublime Text.

That's absolutely amazing. That looks well-made enough to the average retard that some people are undoubtedly going to start taking it seriously.

I can't wait to see how this develops.

Name: Anonymous 2013-12-15 17:39

and of course the mainline branch is called `mistress' instead of `master'. I love you.

copied from old /prog/. I would link to the original thread, but dis.4chan.org is blocking me right now.

I don't need you to explain feminism to be. I need you to explain this whole phenomenon of so-called men being angry, butthurt and offended by women being angry, butthurt and offended, e.g. mensrights. It's inherently unmasculine, and what could be more beta than a bunch of neets and weebs creating a fake programming language aimed at ridiculing a very miniscule subset of women? All the while, some alpha dog mover and shaker with projects under his belt and pull in the industry like jacobian says ``take it down'' and github listens. No question. That's power, the kind that feminists strive for and that fedoras dare not even fantasize about. That privilege, and you don't have to check it or defend it because you do not possess it. You're on the save receiving end of the patriarchal dick as the feminists, and as they say, just because you're born with a dick doesn't make you a man.

So we have trolls (author of above post) trolling trolls (people behind fsf) trolling trolls (tumblr fauxminists) trolling everyone else?

Also the alpha stuff is so passé.

After that did jacobian hop in his Lamborghini Gallardo and rev it up to 40000 RPM?

It has been interesting. I want to get a collection of people's reactions to it. I've also started exploring the social networks in twitter. There's a surprising amount of /prog reddit/ like people that use it, except they probably don't care much about being anonymous. They still have sort of interesting blogs though except it's all 1% haskell and 99% javashit

The language is kind of silly, but the original author was talking to a silly person of /g/, and I took it as a rearrangement of typical imageboard rhetoric turned on its head and used as a counter.

And zero percent lisp? How typical of them.

but the original author was talking to a silly person of /g/
Oh, right, I forgot they're still dealing with that issue back in old /prog/.

I am firmly convinced that, should the entire history of the human race be revealed to us by some benevolent, omniscient scholar, we would be very much surprised by how frequently the motivation for significant action is ``to piss the other guy off'', and nothing else.

Nah, he just told them the value of a few arbitrary dFi/dxj expressions and hung around in case anyone wanted to convert to polar.

Bump, because I went to LKML for the first time todya and saw https://lkml.org/lkml/2014/3/23/230 .

Oh look Sarah Sharp (if you recall from not-so-recent events, the smarmy piece of shit that tried language-policing the LKML because ey didn't like how Torvalds flames people) has replied to it.

I don't want to read too much into it, but the fact that xe took it upon xirself to write a warning is pretty funny. ``Be careful! Though it may look like a complaint about gendered language in the kernel, this patch is actually very silly.'', xe says.

a very miniscule subset of women?
Literally a single woman. A single, particular, lone lady who published a thing (by herself), albeit a dumb thing, on some website for papers.

To be fair, the "FSF" does satirize various salient aspects of some modern feminist movements: gender essentialist overtones (and, albeit rarely, even outright female supremacy), the very widely misunderstood and misapplied concept of privilege (often as a thought-terminating cliché, which it was never meant to be), and identity politics, to name a few. In a fairly broad stroke, it also seems to mock the propensity towards yelling bloody murder (or more specifically, "rape") of certain subgroups in the face of activities that do not qualify by any sane standard as rape (e.g. consensual penetrative/"vanilla" sex, or partaking in black humour that references rape).

All this to say, it's not just mocking a silly old lady's mistake in attempting to publicly tackle discrete mathematics using her humanities background.

I'm waiting for someone to make the obvious SubjectiveC joke.

particular lisp, more minimalist than scheme
