I'm thinking of buying a com domain. But it wouldn't be for a community, it'd be for a browser game.

What about .net?

That would make the imagereddits.org/b/ a good tier community. Shit regex, you're a faggot.

Publish a paper. "Regex considered faggot." I'm sure that'll go over well.

Slashdot's community consists of a bunch of bitter tech guys who think that being curmudgeonly for its sake is actual expertise, and whose programming knowledge hits a ceiling at C's pointer semantics. Seriously, Slashdot sucks.

Slashdot used to be good because it was common for people who knew their shit to pop in and explain things, like JPL engineers explaining things that the stories glossed over. As time went on, those people started showing up less and less, and now it's the haven of a bunch of armchair experts (and occasionally shilling wars). Then, of course, there are the goddamn Slashvertisements, but I could live with those if the posters were informative again.

I still visit it regularly, but mostly because I don't have many other places to find news.
