Reducing entropy of random data
I've revisited the problem of infinite compression recntly(i been busy writing other stuff)
new version with proper decoder. Uses 8byte units at once
instead of 1 byte.
What the fuck does this NIGGER smoke? He's still at it.

who's mentifex?

Name: Anonymous 2014-04-15 18:19

A complete mystery. Nobody has any idea who he is. It's not as if there's an entire, well-documented and continuously updated FAQ devoted entirely to answering the question ``who's mentifex'', and even if there was, it certainly wouldn't be among the top results for typing ``who's mentifex'' into a search engine.

Wow, what a faggot. I fucking love you.

That FAQ is biased against him.

That's true. Sadly Mr. Murray has repeatedly ignored /prog/'s questions, even though we game him an endearing nickname The Mentishit and turned his friend ANDRU into a meme.

On Sat.19.APR.2014 there was a picture of ESR (Eric S. Raymond) in The New York Times and Mentifex thought to himself the remembrance that Mentifex and ESR exchanged e-mails many long years ago.

Surely you aren't friends with that crazy dipshit burnout, are you? If you are, you'd better watch out lest he try to steal credit for MindForth from you.

I still feel bad about calling him mentishit. I never meant for it to be direct.

Name: Anonymous 2014-04-21 1:28

I'm pretty sure it wasn't direct. If Mentifex had ever actually come to /prog/, he would never have left, and we would suffer the infestation to this day.

Me too. I guess that people do still get offended by being called names on the internet. I wish he would have posted more about AI and less on those dumb news updates though.

I also feel he never figured out how the flow went. He'd always reply in a different thread.

Try facetumblr sometime.

I tried the facetumbler but I got very bruised and dizzy. I will only wash my face in top loading washing machines from now on.

It is very hard to express now where MindForth AI has to go next. Currently MindForth shows how to link concepts from a subject to a verb to an object of the verb. MindForth needs to scale up considerably to handle all manner of human input. Then there is the MasPar barrier of our computer hardware not having massive parallelism like the human brain has.

Please don't bully Authur.

Arthur here. I posted items #9 (2014-04-20 02:57) and #16 (2014-05-16 03:41) above, but of course you can never be sure just exactly who is posting to the Web. You can only assess a _likelihood_ that a certain person posted something. Anyway, I have a little Mentifexian tidbit to offer. A few months ago I noticed that my local, ahem, ATM offered Russian as a language to be set in Preferences. But when I set my Preferences to Russian, I did not know some of the Russian words (like for "cash" :-) so I started writing down a little more of the Russian instructions each time I used the, ahem, ATM facility. Then today I created http://ai.neocities.org/russbank.html as the initial webpage for students of Russian who might like to learn how to operate an, ahem, ATM in the Russian language. But should we AI enthusiasts be afraid that the US government will think we are hackers if we set our ATM Preferences to Russian?

The US government ain't got shit against MindForth, Mentifex. We AI enthusiasts support you unconditionally in your putting a light to the AI winter.

As long as you don't set it to something explosive like Arabic, they wouldn't care. The government isn't competent like it was during the Cold War.
