I was reading an issue of Linux Voice and came across gluglug.co.uk, which has a single linux-based laptop for sale for kind of cheap (although it is a refurbished thinkpad). Is it worth it?

I think I read it on phoronix, you should buy it only if you want a 100% freedom respecting computer but you probably don't care since you called GNU/Linux as Linux
