what.cd staff are literally mini hitlers and I despise the fact that I'm always walking on eggshells around them. I'm TM and been there for years. One day out of the blue I noticed that my inviting abilities had been disabled. I discovered this by accident, no PM was ever sent to me. In all my time there I had invited 2 people, both personal friends. One barely uses his account and the other donated and is getting close to PU. I read the rules and in such a case I can't pm staff. Instead I'm supposed to join the what-disabled channel. So I connected to my IRC bouncer and joined the channel and waited. And waited. The best part about this #what-disabled is that you're not allowed to chat in the channel, you don't get any notification of your place in a queue because they don't have a queue system there, and if you're marked away at any stage you get kicked from the channel.
So luckily my work allows me to be on a computer permanently (sys admin from home). So after waiting 2 days, grabbing 4 hours of sleep and praying I wouldn't get hi-lighted and kicked for not replying within that window I decided to ask someone else. My IRC BNC is always connected to the TorrentMaster channel although I've never chatted there, just perma lurk. I had been a TM for a little over a year there by this stage so it wasn't as if I was going to join the channel just to ask a question, I had been idling in that channel for a year. So I formulated as polite a question as I could.
'Hey I was just wondering about how the wait times in what-disabled are like. It's about an inviting issue, my account isn't disabled. I've been waiting 2 days now but no one has contacted me yet, is this normal?'
The response was immediate.
One guy says 'lol typical wait times in there are at least a week, 2 days is nothing.'
Another guy, 'what did you do to get disabled and why are you still able to connect here? OPs!!!'
Another guy, 'hey you only need x amount of 100% FLAC to become (whatever that next user class is that gives you a 5th personal collage or some bullshit).
Basically the second I asked my question I had losers immediately checking my user name on the site, probably looking to dig up dirt on me. Absolutely no help.
I just continued waiting in the disabled channel watching disabled plebs have their issues resolved in a timely manner.
Sure enough on the 6th day my nick got hi-lighted and after I replied I got joined to a private channel. After asking my question the guy in charge said hang on I'll take a look. When he came back he proceeded to ask me questions about my 2 invitees. Who were they? How well did I know them? What was the process I used to invite them. Maybe he was looking to try to trip me up and say something that didn't happen. I had done my own limited research and they didn't post in the forums so might have been PMs. After asking all the questions, he said well one of the invitees did something that alerted the staff. He said then that it looked to be ok and my inviting abilites would be re-activited. I asked him in as nice a way I could if it was possible to know what it was this invitee had done.
'No'
I tried asking if I could at least know which of the two invitees it was?
'No and if you question the staff's decision you will be warned.'
Wtf. So I just left it and said everything's ok. He asked then if there was anything else he could help me with or if everything was ok now, as sweet as pie. I imagined a soldier asking me that while pointing a gun at my head. I said no, you've been very helpful, thanked him and left.
I checked his account later and he had been on the site 8 months and I had been there 4 years. Most of his forum posts were sucking up to staff. To this day I don't know why my invites were disabled.
