Is there any need for science in the modern age? Overpopulation and robots seem to have made it redundant for practical purposes.
I bring this up here, an anonymous board, because on the wider internet and community, my views are often dismissed as "retarded" or "luddite".
However, the question remains: is science the best way forward for humanity? Is it inclusive of peoples' lived experience, or is it fast becoming its own little world of irrelevance?
There are many highly frightening things about science: GMO, Killer-Androids, "grey goo," designer-babies, and so on. Yet rarely is the question asked: should science be rejected?
Thoughts?

Whenever an invention is made, it has the capacity to be weaponized and used for evil. We have so much power and so many tools, but we don't seem to be able to use them. I think we should make sure that we are sound as a society before inventing more technology, as we may very well be orchestrating our own destruction. What good is giving technology to violent savages?
It is likely that early humans were also responsible for wiping out the huge megafauna which used to live in Australia including a huge giant wombat a marsupial lion and a flesh-eating kangaroo.
AAAAAAHHHHHH, FUCKERS WHY DID YOU HAVE TO KILL OFF SUCH COOL SHIT?

IF WE COMBINED SCIENCE WITH NATURE WE COULD MAKE BIOLOGICAL MACHINES OF UNIMAGINABLE POWER. INSTEAD OF HAVING ANDROIDS WE'D HAVE HUMANOIDS, AND INSTEAD OF BATTERIES WE'D POWER BY CHLOROFORM AND ALL OUR SCIENCE WOULD BE LITERALLY THE COLOR GREEN. WILL PEOPLE UNDERSTAND THIS BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE? SADLY, EVIDENCE SUGGESTS THAT NO THEY WON'T.

people used to grow cannabis plants for food, fiber, and medicine
On the contrary, science has to keep going further until realistic sex androids have been created, tested, and become available on the market for cheap.

Do you think we will we ever advance science enough to develop a more certain ``Theory of Everything'' and learn about our origins and fate?
