Is the unbearable nature of the "bro culture" in the tech / programming industry responsible for the rise of workplace codes of conducts that reference "microaggressions" and other things designed to stop people being awful to each other? If so, has there ever been a culture more vile and destructive than the bro culture of this industry?

No, feminism, and probably kikes, are responsible for that, and they would be pushing their leftist bullshit with or without brogramming retards to blame it on. They don't talk about all the rape niggers love when they do slutwalks either. Not addressing the real problem, but instead deflecting to whites is standard kike tactic.
Brogrammers are mostly harmless. They bilk money from stupid venture capitalists for startups that are obviously going to fail, and create lots of high paying Ruby jobs. They are also the only segment of professional programmers that does not seem to be predisposed to pedophilia and other Japanisms.

They exist, microaggressions are a real thing, but I don't think the tech industry is "full" of them any more than any other profession within the same social class.

microaggressions
microwhat? Never heard of such thing in my 30 years. People here in russian just hate each other with passion and no friggin code of conduct will stop them, because nobody here is afraid of losing a $0.5/hour wage ( http://www.salaryexplorer.com/hourly-wage.php?&loctype=1&loc=179 )
