I was behind a blond woman with a cute little olive baby in the store the other day. She turned to me for just a second and I saw her black eye and busted lip. I was struck by how strong she must be to make it through such a hard life. I immediately fell in love and began day dreaming about whisking her away to a happier place to provide for her, to treat her like the princess she deserves to be treated as, and to raise her son as my own. But I know I could never be good enough for a woman like her. All I could do was reach over and slide my credit card before she could hand her food stamps to the cashier. As soon as the transaction was approved, she pushed her cart away in a hurry, her difficult life, full of hardships and exploitation, no doubt leaving her unable to trust in kindness and goodwill of strangers. I hardly heard the cashier tell me that my card had been declined for my purchase as I watched the florescent Walmart lights gently reflecting off her infant son's silver Nike Air shoes fade into the distance. As I was leaving the store emptyhanded, I saw this wonderful woman paying it forward by giving her foodstamps to another person, brightening their day as I hope I did hers. So though I will be eating only crackers and mayonnaise this month, I am proud of the fact that I took the tiniest of steps towards making the world a little better of a place.

Sardinian is my favorite Romance language, it lets you really appreciate how different Classical Latin is from the Vulgate.
