It is no longer the good old Windows XP, which you buy once and then run for a decade, before Microsoft release next proper OS. There is no mandatory auto update, which end user cannot disable by any GUI means, without hacking the system. The multiple desktop and tiling features are confusing.

>>3 Same, except I'm on Windows 8. However, just recently I've found that my Widows Defender virus definitions no longer update. When I get the pop up message and click on it the screen just hangs and the download fails. Just as well I guess, the whole concept of downloading updates was fucking with my head.

Why are you people still using Windows? You're like niggers complaining about the white man keeping you down, while staying on ebt and gibsmedats.
7 is the last true version of Windows as we knew it―the robust, work-oriented operating system with a simple GUI that just works 99% of the time. Windows 8.x and 10 are an affront to everything Windows once stood for. Functionality has been lessened, usability has been stifled in the name of edgy design, stability has been sacrificed and security has been utterly abandoned.

Windows update just kicked-in and I lost my unsaved work, it also broke my concentration.
never mind the 100000 hours of configuration you'll have to inevitably do--it's Free As In Freedom™. never mind that Windows is virtually as customizable as Linux to those familiar with Microsoft APIs. never mind that you will never have to fuck around with WINE or VirtualBox to do something as simple as editing a picture. nah, none of that shit matters because Windows interrupts you in the middle of your ``work'' to install updates. Terrible!

>>17 I would say you could just use Ubuntu or Fedora with the defaults, but that's basically Windows so I guess you're right.

>>17 Nothing wrong with using an "easy" distro (read: Ubuntu based) if all you want is a drop-in replacement for Losedows. Wine supports Windows programs better than Windows itself does these days, thanks to the Micro$hill policy of planned obsolescence that means they have to reinvent the square wheel every two years. And Photo$hop is a meme anyway, unless you do graphic design for a living (and maybe even then) you can find Linux a compatible software that's cheaper and more usable.

Nothing wrong with checking these dubs (read: check 'em) if all you want is to check dubs. These dubs are better than most dubs these days, thanks to these dubs' policy of planned GETting that means they don't have to reinvent the wheel every dubs GET. And dubs are a meme anyway, unless you check them for a living (and maybe even then) you can find these dubs to your left, they are checkable.
For some reason Photoshop works slower on OSX, than it works on Windows. OSX also has this annoying habit to hung for 30 seconds, turning mouse cursor into beach ball, just to taunt you. I believe that is the garbage collector, which suddenly begins moving pages in and out of swap.
I remember there was SkyOS, as a competitor to Windows, but it was closed for some reason, despite being profitable project. Guess Microsoft paid them to stop competing. http://www.skyos.org/
