I'm not sure what makes you think the letter is "blatantly fake". Yes it was obviously written by an idiot, but there are idiots on both sides of the political spectrum. I've noticed some disconcerting patterns in the behavior of Trump supporters lately, but I don't jump to the conclusion that it's some kind of conspiracy.

And as for Trump holding the rainbow flag, no one is saying that him doing so shows him to be anti-gay. Rather, they're saying its just propaganda - holding a flag does nothing to actually protect LGBT people. Actions speak louder than words, and someone isn't really your ally unless they demonstrate a willingness to make sacrifices to protect you. Otherwise, its basically just virtue signalling - they're making themselves look good, without having to put in any real effort.
