Were textboards ever good?

I used to think maybe textboards sounded cool in the past, memes, milkribs, and lots of laughs. But now, I'm thinking they were actually gay and not cool from the start.

Wrong again. The reason they had so much life was because banned users could still use the textboards. It wasn't until years later that joot started putting the textboard links on their related imageboards.
