Were textboards ever good?

I used to think maybe textboards sounded cool in the past, memes, milkribs, and lots of laughs. But now, I'm thinking they were actually gay and not cool from the start.

Yeah, but you can't be certain that it was full of banned /b/tards, but if you ever got banned from any board you'd know for certain that it makes you unable to browse the textboards.
