Were textboards ever good?

I used to think maybe textboards sounded cool in the past, memes, milkribs, and lots of laughs. But now, I'm thinking they were actually gay and not cool from the start.

like some mythical time, or a least a single instant at 3AM in 2006 when a textboard was "at its prime".
