Fuck Unicode. What's the use-case for being able to simultaneously handle every single language ever invented in one place, when everyone will only use a tiny fraction of that? Whatever happened to YAGNI? Now everyone thinks they need to implement "full Unicode support", even if 99% of that won't ever be needed and just creates bugs like this.

Yeah I agree. Kids these days forgot the lost art of minimalism. Win95, ASM, Unix, passwords in plain text, segfaults on hello world--these were the things that made computing great. Computers shouldn't be able to render foreign languages because it's 50kb of bloat. If you want foreign languages, get a paperback book to look at those characters. It's 2018, we don't have enough compute and memory power available to display the most basic form of human communication on screens. Too much bloat! Magnetic tape didn't have these problems.
