There's plenty of lost technology from Greek and Egyptian civilizations, and they didn't store their data in digital form. Yet the knowledge was lost due to the general chaos of history. Only a fool would bet on a natural disaster and/or prolonged war NOT causing us to forget how to access digital data at some point in the future.
Remember, "evolution" isn't a linear line where a species develops more complexity over generations, the only reason humanity seems to grow more complex over time is because we keep records and can build on past discoveries. But at some point those records will be lost and we will be as animals again for several centuries. That's why it is gay to talk of the big picture, everything will eventually change so who cares.
