I've been in quite a few inner city schools for wrestling matches. The behavior of young people who were not properly disciplined by their parents is truly awful. To some extent you can attribute criminality to material deprivation (street level drug dealing hardly pays better than flipping burgers), but senseless brutality can't be chalked up to poverty alone. The American social services should be more willing to intervene between parents and children so that children are not allowed to become feral creatures who prey on each other.
