How text boards have affected you

Name: Anonymous 2018-08-24 19:31

Are you an experienced textboarder? If so, how have your experiences here affected you? Has it changed your way of thinking? Has it improved your writing and debate skills? Or do you think it's harmful? Any other thoughts or observations you want to share about it?

I was visiting World4ch since maybe 10 years ago. World4ch's /prog/ made me take up Programming as a hobby. I don't do anything fancy, but it's nice to know I can always hack software to fit my needs.

For progrider, the ``Neurotypical Thread'' made me take better care of myself. I was out of shape a few years ago, but I definitely see an improvement emotionally and physically, so I'm grateful for it and for OP writing it.

I'm glad this site has the old posts. I was thinking everything's good as dead after progrider got shutdown, but I'm glad I can at least I can still reminisce about the old times.

I'm an old-timer from world4ch too. I remember posters like 1337UK, RedCream, and Milkribs. I wonder if they still post. Maybe not.

What kinds of programming projects have you done?

What's the neurotypical thread you mentioned? Got a link?

They don't.

What kinds of programming projects have you done?
Mostly automation stuff. Nothing to brag or be impressed about.

there are people here who weren't posting on world4ch?

the only purpose of this place is nostalgia.

it's not nostalgia, it's a continuation

nostalgia is just ``hey remember the good old days? yep''

but the continuation is living on in the present rather than the past

old style board, new content though

people are still talking about Lisp, FP,, complaining about social media, aka the same shit as always.

old people stop learning new things. it starts after age 25.

if you want to talk about cutting edge programming shit, you probably have to go to reddit or Snapchat or something.

cutting edge
reddit
nope
snapchat
that's just normal social stuff, not for programming discussion
it starts after age 25.
I'm still learning new things

I don't read the archives, but because this place has the archives i'm irrationally confident that the site won't die suddenly.

Yep lots of shitllib cucks and queers came here from reddit, like three by my count.

Name: Anonymous 2018-08-25 11:26

>>9 is literally a shitlib cuck straight from reddit.

if I'm from reddit, why would I be critical of reddit?

Name: Anonymous 2018-08-26 7:56

>>14
Only somebody from reddit, namely a cucktard shitlib, would know reddit well enough to proffer such in-depth criticism. As somebody who would never visit reddit even on pain of death I naturally assume it is where cutting edge programing discussion happens. This is true of everybody who has not visited reddit, yet you have a different opinion.....
