Thats obvious. Semen retention implies no sex,porn,edging,or anything sex-related. Its equivalent to being a monk.
Before i get deeply into the subject, i was thinking monks are just some autists obsessed with spiritual purity and that fapping and sex are something natural(like e.g. satisfying reproductive drive) and that monks are fighting their own "nature" due their religious upbringing and self-loathing. Monks are actually spiritually powerful BECAUSE of semen retention - their religious/cultural upbringing is just a crutch to force that lifestyle for energetic configuration of abstinence(i.e. reducing desire).

Its actually more accurate to say, humans are setup to fail spiritually, all chances are to regress to animal nature and only like 0.01% can spiritually advance - a huge sieve to filter out the weaker-willed people,this requires ascetic self-denial, one of its forms is semen retention. Its extremely challenging when you have hormones driving mate-seeking behavior, and if you blame or critique yourself it ends up even more harsh: its a psychological battle for your "jing" energy, temptation to "be human"(aka biological monkey) vs intention to maintain purity of mind.

It's not obvious to everybody, many think in material terms and assume that keeping the physical semen inside the ballsack is the main goal and they can continue to indulge sexual thoughts if they do this. But really spiritual growth comes from feeding the spirit and the spirit is nourished by your honor and resolve, we reject the needs of the physical because we see it is dishonorable to waste our moment on something as ugly and imperfect as animal needs when the choice is there to display total resolve and refuse to act dishonorably. But this is available to all men and your upbringing and circumstances don't matter, a monk is still likely to compete with other monks over who can levitate highest or whatever leading him to die with a definition of himself that comes from the material.

Death comes in a moment and the moment of death defines life. Therefore in the moment one must display honor and resolve. It is similar to that moment before you fall asleep when many of your mental defenses fall away and you feel an abstracted anxiety and concern just before sleep -- there is a part of your mind that holds the truly nightmarish total reality of the material world at bay, but in the moment of death that ceases to function and you will need to be truly without fear and desire and future plans in that moment, you will need a nourished spirit with total resolve and honor to be be able to face that moment and move to the next. Overcoming sexual desires and other material comforts is merely practice for the moment when you must overcome matter or perish.
