` Each of the major networks, especially the "old Big 3," have different compression & frame rates for their news broadcasts which is used to artificially differentiate them from each other, which conversely strengthens "consensus" and artificially makes the range of opinion seem like a broader spectrum than if each network was identically broadcast in the same frame rate/compression.`

What does frame rate have to do with broader spectrums of opinion?

Its creates a subtle mental watermark that characterizes the channel as "unique and special" in your brain.
People feel hidden "novelty" factor by switching to another channel while in fact there isn't one: its subtle deception that creates an illusion of choice instead of feeling like a corporate youtube feed vs youtube broadcasters using a style and format, except it all hidden in subconscious.

That's stupid, like variations in lighting, different audio equalization, or subtle makeup colorizations on a station's talking head isn't just as big of a "novelty".

Thats an additional style factor, but technically its not subconscious like the technical parameters and doesn't persist over time(style/equipment changes). The style can be psychologically manipulative and designed to engender trust and familiarity, buts its pretty obvious for a careful viewer. Discerning the style of compression/transmission artifacts and subtle frequency shifts can't be done without specialized software.
