Visited tinychan for the first time

I know where they come from but I'm not familiar at all with Minichan or Tinychan. Even when tinychan was hosted at tiny.4chan.org I've never used it.
I wouldn't describe it as a pleasant experience. If you don't know the board culture you don't get what the jokes are about. You just feel out of place.
Are there any users that visit tinychan and dis.tinychan or are those communities totally distinct?

since tiny.4chan.org, both sites have basically become /b/ but with tripfags.
It's a very good concept, better than your average 2chan clone, but those sites have very broad topics that make them difficult to get any users.

There was an anime styled one called otakutalk that was actually fairly popular, but it ran some sort of ancient version of the same software that made it significantly worse... At least it had a real community that wasn't 90% /b/-tier shitposts.

They're very distinct. Might as well consider the freesoftwarefoundation.org domain to be the real one.
