It hard to explain the exact stuff i see, because it will be unfamiliar: Devilman is NOT occult anime.
Shin Megami Tensei isn't either
1. The themes of demons/angels are mythological.
2. Anime doesn't become occult anime because it has entity X.
3.Anime becomes occult when it depicts occult rituals, magic systems which involves demon-summoning, sigils that bind to entities,
basically depiction of actual magic(or magick as pretentious thelemites call it).
4.Anime that promotes #3 as cool & liberating,
in form of witchcraft/magic/superpowers is what
OP is talking about. Not shonen plot elements.
Actual techniques/rituals to be replicated by viewers
is the idea here, from drawing sigils to summoning circles.
Anime that is clearly designed as occult training
in faint disguise of supernatural themed anime:
this is not cringy maho shojo transformation sequences
or shonen battle fluff rituals, though it likely also contain these due genre themes.
It now penetrates every genre of anime and is clearly
organized by someone with knowledge of occult & its
promotion to children(likely child psychology is involved). Demonic 'waifus' is another topic,
that is especially disturbing with thousands tulpa-forcing (summoning) various demons with minimal
effort from designers of such anime..
>>10 Also here is more complete list of anime with demons(though some are obviously missed due plot labeling them
as spirits/fairies/servitors/etc)
