Are there any C++ books for beginners?
All the books I read assume you have a masters in CS.

I'm not a complete beginner, though. I know FORTRAN, JavaScript, Ruby, VisualBasic, and C#.

C++ is not a beginner language. So there are no books for beginners.

Most people doing C++ now learned their programming with BASIC and assembly, myself included. I started programming from Turbo Assembler.

Today BASIC is outdated, so consider Scheme as a replacement.
