Is Emacs XXIV is pulling a GNOME III?

Grievance 1. ELPA. Automatic downloading, installation, and execution of unsigned elisp code from ``da cloud''; someone must have figured out that Emacs and smartphones have in common the fact that people use them for almost everything except their original purpose, so naturally there should be a quick, easy, and unsafe way to install cool free ringtones apps elisp packages to one's Emacs. I just can't wait for someone to hide malware in the ELPA repositories so I can jump up and scream ``I fucking told you so!'' to everyone who complains about getting infected.

Grievance 2. Emacs24's deftheme is the new great thing which is supposed to replace color-theme. Unfortunately, it doesn't even support per-frame themeing, making it useless for anyone who uses Emacs both in X11 and in VTs.

Use vim.

After 6 hours I finally managed to revert everything back to color-theme and figure out how to work around the really fucking annoying "Custom-mode: Symbol widget-mouse-face may not be buffer-local" bug.

Man, when is GPG going quantum-secure?

You evidently didn't try very hard.

(add-to-list 'load-path "~/.emacs.d/lisp")
(when (display-graphic-p) (load-theme 'adwaita-less-blue t))

My bad, I'll rectify:
making it useless for anyone who uses emacsclient both in X11 and in VTs with a single daemon instance.

Make a thread about post-quantum cryptography.

Um, yeah, it even has acme-corp and sammy. Yi included. And that's not even all the features the distro has. OS, if you don't get the joke

No, not at all. Gnome 3's problems were that it enforced a developer [UI designer] vision over user control. Emacs is the complete opposite of that - both of your complaints are about things you can add to Emacs if you want, or ignore if you want.

For Emacs to pull a Gnome 3 would be for them to completely remove theming because it breaks their vision, and to drop support for being run from a VT because ``according to our research, nobody uses that''.
