do you have anymore good ones /prog/ ? i'm craving for good computer sites. is it me or in 2013 99.99% of all sites is "a shitload of javascript garbage and DRM and Ads and bullshit up your ass" ? why don't people make these oldschool plain HTML sites with good fucking content on them anymore ?

From a certain viewpoint that could be held by libertarians, the GPL is less attractive than other licenses because it places some restrictions on what you may do with the code. Perhaps the guy once wanted to sell a product which would have used a GPL'd component internally, and found that legally he wasn't allowed to.

I think there's a simpler reason, however. The GPL is really fucking long. Compared to the MIT or N-clause BSD licenses, it's a EULA. cat-v really seems to value terse writing.
