Why are programmers such pseudo-intellectuals?

I mean you don't see electronics engineers come up with some stupid social commentary about why a particular group of people aren't using a particular (albeit of extremely high quality) brand of tool.

Programmers are in an industry in which you can learn by picking something up and playing with it. They tend to view the whole world that way after a while. They're probably about half right, which is a statement I will happily fail to support with evidence; but I think an average pseudo-intellectual programmer is probably better equipped than a normal person to deal with a new situation.
