[magic][programming] Circular Evolution [Darwin approved]

Name: Anonymous 2014-05-04 10:08

Oh hey /blog/! Check out what I made. In JAVASCRIPT. Yup, I never gave much thought to JS until I found out Eich was a fellow queer hater, and I must say, I'm impressed. I've done more useless ivory tower circlejerking in the last few hours than I did in Haskell in a week!

So it evolves a circle from a collection of random points. Yup, can't easily use the HTML5 canvas in Lisp, now can you? I think I may keep on making useless crap in JS. Maybe next I'll make a Mandelbrot fractal view. Have fun with your fibs, faggots.

circle.css : http://pastebin.com/cKKiV34M
circle.js : http://pastebin.com/6BFseG6F

Here's an example with 500 points, with 16 elite, up to 50px mutation, after 500 generations: http://i.imgur.com/ZvPmaHr.png

Suit yourself. You probably wouldn't understand the sheer magnitude of my geometric transformations anyway.

At least render an animation of the convergence.

Does it converge faster than a bruteforce iteration over Y = sqrt(R^2 - X^2) with small X-step?
