Disable JIT. Edit the interpreter so that it is limited to only use a very small fraction of the hosts CPU, and limited memory so that no webpage can cause any stability or speed problems to the host computer.

I needed 8GB memory with 2GB swap, an exra 12 GB HD to actually fit all the files webkit generates while compiling

Because 10GB of memory is 10000 connections per pixel in 1000x1000 pixel array (less than the human optic nerve bandwidth), while typical brain neuron has about 9000 sampling connections in its dendritic tree. You can divide 9000 by 2, because analog channels produce a lot of noise.

So compiling Webkit requires 2 times more memory than running Strong AI.
