2022

It's the year 2022.

Mozilla Firefox adoption has dropped below 1% and the Mozilla Foundation announces it will be closing its doors forever due to lack of funding.

Likewise, the Rust community has shrunk, withering away over the months and years since 2017 when the last major features were added. Now it resembles nothing more than the Pascal community. Another hipster language that flourished and died.

Another glorious thing about Lynx is that it uses only one (1) socket connection to connect to websites, which it promptly closes after the page has loaded. Ever single other ENTERPRISE browser opens a fuckton of sockets and keeps them open all the fucking time.

Open a TCP monitor and start Lynx, then close it and start Firefox. See the difference for yourself. See the shitstorm of connections Firefox fucks your system with.

There is no way to configure Firefox or any other "modern" browser to stop acting like a pig with your ethernet connection. Use Lynx if you want a polite browser that demonstrably respects your freedom and privacy, instead of just pretending it does.

Someone Someone who cares enough might end up being me should separate the layout engine and connection maker thing. Let the layout engine do whatever it wants inside a jail and have something simple you can trust to make connections.

Does your glorious Lynx have adblock? Does it have Noscript (the ability to turn off Javaskript for some hosts)? Can it be configured to connect through a proxy?

Lynx doesn't support javascript/images/flash and just like most command line programs it supports the http_proxy environment variable.

I let my browser use up to 16 connections, because it makes loading pages significantly faster.

That's not neccessary if you don't need to include images, js, css, etc...

It's the year 2022.

Mozilla Firefox adoption has dropped below 1% and the Servo browser now has 95% of the user base. Suckless UNIX tools now have been written in Rust, but still no-one uses the project.

The LISP community has shrunk, withering away over the months and years since 2017 when the last toy interpreter was implemented. Now it resembles nothing more than the Pascal community. Another hipster language that flourished and died.

A non-profit organization with a business model based around contributions and donations leans to the left? Someone call the news! What a staggering revelation!

Leans? This guy fell over and did a barrel roll.

All this "left" and "right" shit is for retards with binary thinking. There's nothing preventing a communist from hating Jews, or a capitalist from loving negroes.
