Intel to lay off 2,500

Intel's $300 million to increase diversity has cost around 2,500 employees their jobs. They even cite a $300 million decrease for the R&D and administrative departments, but don't say it's for feminism/diversity in their internal memo, but blames it on bad sales.

Intel is quietly making plans to lay off employees across the company later this month in response to disappointing sales.

A confidential, internal memo obtained by The Oregonian/OregonLive indicates that Intel wants to keep expenses flat to match the company's reduced revenue outlook for 2015, citing plans it announced in April to cut its research and administrative budget by $300 million this year.

Feminism/diversity has probably set Intel back a year or more, and thus indirectly affected the availability of cutting edge technology on the market and therefore a reduction of general competition. AMD and ARM manufacturers can take it easy for the next year while they play catch up.

This is just the result of the market realizing, yet again, that short term revenue bumps in PCs (from Windows XP EOL) and servers (from ongoing datacenter buildouts, with ARM and AMD putting up no serious resistance) are no indicator of continued growth. Cue another IBM-style PR offensive to keep Gartner and IDC occupied another year while Intel searches for new opportunities to bungle...
