there is no such thing as social coding

no one has looked at any of my 50 projects on there

no one has bothered to try to understand or hack on them

zero contributions for making it open source, worthless

That happens when you chose obscure languages like haskal that nobody understand for your projects: my javascript and ruby projects have several stars, forks, and pull requests, and I didn't even publish them anywhere (I have no idea how they found them). Also, cute readme files are very important, include images even for tty programs.
