Swift is going open source in the Fall. I never owned Appleshit product so I've never wrote a single line of Swift. How does it compare to C? Is it comfortable to write large projects with it? Is it better than say, Python or Ruby?

Why does Apple have such horrible NIH Syndrome? Do they have an inferiority complex or something?
Anyway, you only need two languages, and that's Scheme and C. Everything else is just a distraction.

Apple's problem is just that their languages aren't all that good. ObjC, in particular, is just an angry fruit salad of a mishmash. And Dylan before that, hory shit, dashes inside identifiers but no LISP parens-overload syntax and a godawful slow compiler! Apple set sail for fail to begin with for that one.
