Gamergate's crowning achievement was to publicize its most hated enemy and make the word "Gamergate" synonymous with misogyny and harassment. The reactionaries are all that are left at the core of Gamergate; anyone who has a genuine interest in improving gaming journalism left a long time ago. Or they at least think that's what Gamergate is still about, only to get shouted down that it's all about the perceived "SJW" menace threatening video games and they have to get their way.
