Some Thoughts on /prog/

Name: Anonymous 2015-09-08 8:58

It's kind of funny, you'd think by being anonymous we'd let your ego down, but if anything it seems to come out more on /prog/. I have a tendency to be a jerk on here, but that's easy when everybody's 'masked' away and we don't feel much of a connection.

But you guys are all awesome your own unique way, you're your own people. I love you guys. I first visited /prog/ back on 4chan, probably in 2011. I think I found it by googling 'zhivago' or something, and up came some threads about him. I used to get stoned and shit-post back then, as I got older I shit-posted more.

But I've grown so much as a person, in all the time I've been visiting this board. I was socially isolated and I lacked direction in a lot of areas in my life (aside from programming :p), but since then I've become more present socially with my family, I've been exercising and doing more things, living a more balanced lifestyle and I feel like I have more direction in my life.

It's cool that we know people like Nikita, I guess we'll never really know how many people visit /prog/, we just have to look forward to the day when we hear the right answer to "what kind of car do you drive?"

I wish you all health and happiness, and hope you guys find a nice balance between computer stuff and your lives!

/prog/ ruined my life. I used to hate anime and anything Japanese related, now I masturbate to Touhou doujins almost every day.

Thank you.

It's up to you to develop willpower. I used to masturbate to porn a lot, but I haven't done that in 8 months. You really have to think about the things you do and think "over the long term, does this make me feel better or worse?"

Whether it's junk food, video games, drugs, videos, or image/text boards, there's a balance that needs to be maintained, and in some cases you need to cut some of those things completely.

Small steps toward improvement over time can go a really long way.

Being a prude won't get you a medal in any textboard.Japanese Internet culture is one of the main role models for Western textboards, whether you like it or not.
