oniichaNj| __20h__: I'm young and have been on computers for less than five years, I do realise that i'm not taught properly oniichaNj| am I trying too hard? __20h__| oniichaNj, you are jumping onto populism. __20h__| Learn to reason well. __20h__| "Communists must use the democratic method of persuasion and education when working among the laboring people and must on no account resort to commandism or coercion. The Chinese Communist Party faithfully adheres to this Marxist-Leninist principle." __20h__| --Mao Tse Tung (On the Correct Handling of Contradictions Among the People (February 27, 1957), 1st pocket ed., p. 15.*) oniichaNj| I have no idea what that means. __20h__| Then you still have a long way to go. farhaven| we need more mao quotes farhaven| wasn't there a command for glenda that did that? oniichaNj| I just want to use computer. I don't want to turn into some politics/philosophy guy. Please don't tell me that's incompatible? __20h__| oniichaNj, you're 20 years too late for keeping politics and philosophy out of technology.

Did this need to be "confirmed"? Was there ever any doubt?

What's the difference between ``persuasion and education'' and ''commandism and coercion''? When I see someone being persuaded through threat of social ostracism, is this not a command to get in line ``or else''? When I enter the halls of so called higher education, and see an educator teaching her pupils half-truths and out right falsities, is this not coercion?
In the end both achieve the same result, through the same means. They are merely different labels for the same thing, to make the perpetrator feel as if they have justice on their side.

I also find it funny how communists are for class warfare and equality for all, and yet they still find people to idolize with god-like class status.
No matter how much ideology you cram into a human's mind to reprogram him for the ``Greater Society'', you simply can't undo millions of years of evolutionary programming on the natural desire to be led by kings who rule by fiat.

>>2 I was hoping they were libertarians, or post-libertarian realists, who desired meritocracy.
Every time you quote Mao, a chinese peasant starves to death.

>>12 Hm. Suppose it takes me 10 seconds to find, copypaste and post an appropriate quote. Then I can quote 8640 quotes per day (without sleep or toilet breaks) or 3153600 quotes per year. At this rate it would take me slightly less than half a millennium to kill all Chinese peasants, and that's not taking into account their natural replenishing.
It's hopeless.

their idiotic BSD >>>>>> GPL, stallman le suxxors shit is pathetic. both licenses are free software licenses, making this artifical divide and causing fighting between the only harms free software.

That which doesn't kill us makes us stronger. From this constant infighting we shall emerge as fearless trolls, razor-witted debaters, euphoric orators. None will stand a chance against us.

Suckless is about code, not about politics. There are many people from many different backgrounds, but that doesn't matter. What matters is the software. And one person doesn't represent everyone.

>>16 So what you're saying is that they're #GamerGate.
>>14 They believe that people should be permitted to fork free software into proprietary software. The GPL exists because Stallman believes it is not good to fork free software into proprietary software. Their political reasons for writing software are inherently different so they won't resolve their grievances with Stallman.
>>18 And Stallman is right, obviously. I can't fathom why would anyone opt to deprive themselves of control of their own software. Especially when the GPL allows you to dual-license. But I guess contrarianism is not exactly a rational line of thinking. That and no one but Arch users actually use their hobby crap, so they don't fear getting ripped off by Apple.
>>25 Accept a patch of software of all software licenses and it's no longer yours. It is only when the copyright is explicitly conveyed to you that the code can be considered yours.
