Mixing your other favorite things with programming

Why is it not fun to mix hobbies? Like, I like cooking and I like reading my SICP, but writing a Scheme program to explore new possible recipes is boring and weird. Likewise, I like anime, but Anime about programming are dumb nerd shit. Shouldn't it be double the fun?
