Cuz those really are the ONLY ways your programming ability would "Literally Double"
Any increase in percieved ability could be explained away by any combination of a number of factors.
Just to itemize a few:
1.) Reduced Cogniative Dissonance, related to previous repression, and subsequent "relief".
2.) One-way time passage. You have practised programming in only one direction, maybe you just got better over time, and this "striped socks" alteration was just a coincidence.
3.) Pessimism flip - now that you have found that indulging your "forbidden" practice did not result in the end of the world, you view your programming ability in a new more optimistic light.
4.) Your metrics changed, without actually noticing.
5.) Reduced preoccupation and therefore increased focus
Now to answer your question - I don't wear girly clothes because I am comfortable in my existential status, and don't need/want to feel more feminized to "improve" my being.
Everyone needs to find their own "girly clothes" to reach a higher level of self-actualization, but that doesn't mean that they are all closeted queers, like you.
For EVERYONE being more honest and open, will have a positive effect on their lives as a whole.
