"Languages are complex!"

myself and then someone that replied to me. it's happened many times though. People think "languages are complex" is a good answer to "unicode is too complex".

There's no other way to encode all of humanity's writings in a single unified way. Is there a simpler way of doing all this?

Using Unicode to encode all the complexity of all languages ever is okay, why would that be a bad thing?

Piles of poo and emoji, on the other hand, have no reason to be in Unicode.

Fun fact: emoji are a complex language in and of itself. They are actually Swahili!

why does a way to encode all of humanity's writings in a single unified way include emoji?

I'm glad that you're asking this question.

What I'm trying ot get across is that most people refuse to ask this, they just say "buh buh buh buh homan is complex too" and stop thinking right there.

Maybe unicode (forgetting emoji for a sec) is optimal maybe it's not, but most people aren't even able to consider that.

Unicode is racist. Why do white male characters get the best codepoints?

There's plenty of room for 1000 different emoji. Those ideograms are no different to wingdings style ideograms or hieroglyphics. We know for a fact that emoji are commonly used in Japan and we also know that many westerners also use it. By all these facts together, I don't really see why it shouldn't be included.

They don't. The codepoints in the U+1F6xx range are simply named 'face', not 'white face'. Nobody hinders you from replacing the graphics with e.g. black, yellow, red, or pink faces and still be standards compliant.
In fact, the emoticons in this range stem from japanese people1, not caucasian.

Text is racist. Why is text coloured black by default?

Tan text would be the most moderate
