Rust is now faster than C

How can this be? Since C is as fast as assembly, does this mean Rust does some microcode optimilzation under the hood?

Real programs are mostly implemented using database procedures and triggers. It doesn't really matter how fast the application code itself executes. I don't see much point in Rust.
