Amazing Open-Source technology, to use a crippled version of Skype you
need to:
1.Install open source messenger
2.install plugin for skype
3.install skype for linux
4.hope that plugin works
5.Use it instead of skype client itself.

What's the problem exactly? It sounds like this ``messenger" program is just a frontend/wrapper/alternate UI for Skype, so why exactly is it a problem that it requires Skype to be installed for you to use it? I mean if it marketed itself as a Skype replacement it having a dependency on Skype would be an issue, but that's not what you make it sound like. The way you describe it, it sounds like it's supposed to be something that runs on top of Skype, which means of course it would be expected to require Skype to be installed.

Its like if WINE required to you install Windows in a VM and communicated to the VM
in order to run windows programs. And it has to be genuine, licensed windows.
And you could also just use Windows-in-a-VM instead of WINE-BridgeToVM-VM-wINDOWS contraptions.

Let's not put the cart before the horseless. One important point has yet to be put forth here. What nut sucker uses skype in the first place?

iNTRODUCING Scheme With Java(tm) Technology:
Open-source, compact solution to run any Java code inside Scheme.
The steps to enjoy this technology:
1.Install a Java VM from Oracle.com and Java-FFI bridge.
2.Create Java bindings in your program
3.Start the program, it will automatically start Java runtime.
4.Write one, Run anywhere.

Its not me. I'm managing the PC with linux for relatives who need to use skype:
i've converted everyone around to Ubuntu and now serve as their Linux tech support:
Instead of using Microsoft Skype(which is what they use), i've explored open-source alternatives for it, and turns out you still need Skype in >>1 .
I never use instant messaging at all, i prefer text-to-text communication.

I'm surprised people still use skype, actually.

They used Skype for years, all their communication is through skype.
They will not switch to anything else, since it requires all their friends to switch too.
