Dubs checking strategies for big data

Name: Anonymous 2017-10-15 3:06

Hello, I have a project in which we need to count how many dubs numbers there are in a massive list of numbers (trillions of numbers). How can I do this efficiently?

use cut to get first 2 characters, then grep with extended regexp to remove the lines in which they aren't the same.

(this assumes that trips/quads/quints/etc. count as dubs; if they don't, you need to get first 3 characters and filter out lines in which they ARE the same)

Try using regex

/\d{2,}$/
