Samsung is the New Evil

Name: Anonymous 2018-09-25 11:06

Ok. So I tried to root my Galaxy phone to disable autoupdate and other crap, and tried Kingo Root, which failed with "ERROR CODE 0x1CC88A". Googling it was of zero help. Then I tried different root app, which was actually a virus.

Why I can't just get what I want without all that crap?

king root? is this 2016?

The reason Samsung doesn't allow disabling autoupdate is because update is essential for planned obsolescence and selling you a new phone for $900

My Galaxy S5 has started running slow and it cannot do any updates because internal memory is too low. I spoke with a tech at Verizon they said the reason its slowing and out of internal memory is because of all of the old Samsung updates and old operating systems. He said it couldn't be removed?. And then started showing me new very expensive phones

I tried other, but it was virus.

Ok. Tried Kingo Root again, after autoupdate, and it just bricked the phone. Now I need a card reader to somehow boot from an SD card. And Samsung provides no recover image.

Next time check if the manufacturer allows bootloader unlocking before you buy the thing.

get an iPhone. you won’t need to root it.

I'm buying a computer, so I assume it should give me full control by default.

AFAIK, there is no way to disable critical iOS updates and telemetry without rooting it.

And it felt incredibly safe. As I made my own way to the tram, I wrote in my Apple Notes app, ‘Helicopter hovering overhead,’ which to me signified that the fans were being watched over. Then two policemen stopped me and asked me who I was with and whether I’d written anything about a helicopter into my phone, without explaining the technology of how they’d read my Notes app. After a friendly back-and-forth, they looked through my bag, checked my ID and business card and determined I wasn’t a threat. ‘You have to understand, tensions are running high,’ one of the men said with a smile and a handshake, allowing me through the gate. Manchester was secure tonight.

Cook, however, said that Apple did not break the encryption and instead used metadata information. Strong encryption “doesn’t mean no information. Metadata exists, and that’s very important for building a profile,” he said. So Apple could have told UK intelligence who’s talking to whom and where they are, without revealing the encrypted contents.

So like, message_contains_helicopter = true?

Helicopter is a strong marker, because helis are used almost exclusively by government, so people scared of them are potential accomplices.

Your assumption is incorrect.

Because security isn't about protecting the end user.
