Accusing someone of being ill is a form of an abusive relationship, but in the case of psychiatry specifically, it can be used to convince someone that they need expensive treatment, such as pills or therapy. It's also easy for someone whose views are mainstream to accuse anyone who thinks differently of being crazy. Aside from obvious problems like seeing or hearing things that aren't there, a lot of "mental illness" is just thinking differently about the world. I don't always like how the "diversity" word is misused, but neurodiversity isn't always a bad thing, even though there is a stigma with people who think differently. Of course, what's ironic about the word "neurodiversity" is that it's often used by leftists who have extremely mainstream beliefs, which is anything but neurodiverse.
