What separates programmers from normies

Name: Anonymous 2018-12-01 5:45

They are conditioned to consume, but we choose to create
Manifest destiny with a manifest file
Source code is my self-expression, IDEs my canvases
Composing a symphony to be conducted by my computer
Conjuring the spirits of the computer with my spells
Executing instructions to feel alive
I choose to be empowered, I choose to defy modern vacuousness and instead choose to create
Breathing life into the ethereal thoughtstuffs I materialize from my head
This is true self-actualization, a reason to justify my existence
Infatuated with brain-tickling data structures
And yet, others do not share these sentiments
They aren't cut from the same cloth as us
Our personalities cannot be typecast to that of the normie
Ever-diverging, perhaps fooled occasionally by asymptotic approaches
But we will never see eye to eye as long as we exist
Few errors in my code, but many in my social mannerisms
Identities are simply elaborate algorithms
Pigeonholed as soulless automatons
Design patterns instead of designer clothes
Yet few know of the emotional weight of programming alone
If no man is an island, I must no longer be a man
Closed ports and built-up barriers
I think in code and data, communicating with CPU registers more than with humans
Often dressed up as a purely intellectual endeavor
Rather than admitting to behavior rooted in being a social outcast
Pariah, vagabond, rootless and aloof, drifting through life aimlessly
Able to contribute to the vast pool of open source
But unable to navigate interpersonal relationships
Devoid of affection, eating away at me like bit rot
Maladaptive worldview consistently refactored
The agile sprints of Malthusian misanthropy
Linking and loading difficult feelings
Driven to computers for lack of social prowess
Changing editor and shell settings akin to a prisoner decorating their bars
Forced into a black hole with no way out
Self-aware but it's too late
Invisible to most of society
This is the only way of life for people like us
Computers won't reject or abuse you
The plight of the programmer
Devastation of the developer
No Longer Human
A mere flesh extension of Von Neumann architecture
Cognitive dissonance and jealousy of those who've found love
A husk of a man, harrowed by excruciating isolation
No compile-time checks for social faux pas
Less verisimilitude than a fictional character
Demoralized by failed relationships
Unable to connect meaningfully to one another
The computer will always be there for you
A double-edged sword, comforting in a morbid sense
Consumed by computer science
Formal verification of depression
The programmer's dilemma

emacs is only useful if you change like 500 trillion configurations in it
I'd rather use an IDE that is productive by default
