WebAssembly

Please explain Wasm to me? Is it something serious? It seems like a toy project made by a bunch of radicals whose qualifications are being angry and hating js.

For some reason C++ dead-enders believe that the future of web development lies in compiling their shitty legacy programs down to a binary format and running the result inside a web browser. Apparently they forgot what happened the last time someone tried this (JAVA).
