it will, but not in a way he's describing it. this approach ('just throw neural network at dataset and infer from that') is OK for certain set of popular problems but not for programming in general, and it won't move AI research forward.

basically, this hyped-up neural net stuff is good when we have some feature we want to replicate, and have a large set of data containing and not containing that feature, classified accordingly. that's why we can use it for things like machine translation, vehicle control, grammar checking/autocomplete, anomaly detection. what this is bad for is actually understanding deeper reasoning behind this stuff, and infering from that: why you should drive slower in the rain (and therefore, what other situations would potentially benefit from slower driving), why would you want to make a photo look like an impressionist painting (and what are defining features of an impressionist painting as opposed to expressionist, surrealist or abstractionist), why is this sentence in this tense and not the other (and how a different tense would indicate a different meaning). it's practical, but very surface-level and only as good as the dataset.

Did you know, that in Russian criminal law any mention of underage person in sexualized context is considered child porn and creation of such content is qualified as child porn production? For example, writing a story similar to Nabokov's Lolita would be considered child porn production in Russia = 10 years in Russian prison (which is worse than death sentence).


So if you write a program that generates sentences of the form "ten years old child enjoys [ACTIVITY_NAME]", where ACTIVITY_NAME is picked randomly from a dictionary, then some of the sentences produced by such programs would make it illegal. At the same time, if you explicitly check that ACTIVITY_NAME!="watching porn", then you are committing that crime yourself, by putting "ten years old child" and "watching porn" near each other. (i.e. creating sexualized context). Same way, if you make an RPG, where player may set his character's age below 18, and other characters in that game may commit sexual acts, then you are guilty of producing child porn, and player also, because he picked the age.
