Performance isn't the goal of Ruby obviously. Use C++ if you want speed. But anyway there are multiple implementations of Ruby, like JRuby and TruffleRuby which have better performance and OS threads. Compare to Python where everyone uses the slow as shit CPython and abandons everything else because of herdthink.
