Good tech communities?

What are some nice link aggregators?
Y combinator: too autistic and 100% emotionless robots
Reddit: soy puns, thank you kind stranger
W4c: extremely dead
Slashdot: badically newgrounds now

I got permabanned at reddit after posting that Russian rooster beheading video. That said that is hate speech and animal abuse.

Sane but obsolete.

I just retreated to IM and talking with likeminded people nowadays.

Name: Anonymous 2019-07-01 2:43

I did the same except with Discord because I live in 2019 not the 1800s.

Tech is inherently bad. You might as well ask for good gamer communities or good public masturbator communities. Just accept that your awful hobby means either having to put up with human garbage or being isolated.

Can confirm, when I have downtime at work (server room goblin here), I just read technical documentation for .NET, some cool stuff there.

It turns out it's also shite on mobile.

I'm here and on hn and I'm very happy with it. Many interesting conversations and more nice links than I have the time to read or discuss. Together with all the books I've bought and the projects I'm working on I'm more than happy with the programming side of my life.

If you're so greedy for links and programming discussions you're probably addicted to it. I know I was. However the world doesn't turn so fast and there isn't so much to discuss every day. Also most of it is useless information.

Maybe you should pick up a hobby? I recommend rock climbing, tennis, golf or hiking.

IM = Instant Messaging, as a concept.
Discord is IM. Telegram, which is what I mostly use, is IM. AIM, which sounds like what you're confusing for IM, is IM.

When is a namelessirc client going to provide OMEMO?

XML-based protocols considered harmful anyway.

Then why are we engaging in a PerlCGI HTML centralized HTTPd?
What would you rewrite client-client exchanges instead of XML?

OTR is pretty much defeated at key initialization exchange. Edited on 09/07/2019 06:55.

I like lobsters, it's all the cool links you would find on hackernews without the autism and news about dead politicians.

Its also much smaller and slower.

Sounds like how I'd describe you, should I be comparing you to Antediluvian giants. Ask yourself this, though, who is alive today, you, or the giants? And why?
